Striking Minneapolis Teacher: ‘No One Here Is Going to Settle for the Status Quo’

Minneapolis teachers are now in their second week of striking, after a vote of more than 97% of members in support of going on strike. They are demanding reduced class sizes, mental health supports, recruitment and retention of educators of color, living wages, and more.

Kristen Melby, MFT member on strike and an elementary environmental educator, describes what it’s been like in education for the last few years and why these demands are vital for the wellbeing of students, teachers, and the community at large.
