“A Powder Keg of Emotions” Rochester Rises Up for Daniel Prude and Police Chief Steps Down

Updated: Nov 17, 2020

In a “powder keg of emotions,” Rochester, New York has become the latest site of the national uprising against racist police killings. The city has seen over a week of protests demanding justice for Daniel Prude, a 41 year old Black man who died after being suffocated by RPD officers on March 30.

The recently resurfaced video of his brutal arrest ignited outrage in the streets, and days later, the police chief stepped down. BreakThrough speaks with Stevie Vargas, organizer with Free the People Roc and Citizen Action of NY.
